Controversial Opinions with Seven : Episode Two, Molly Weasley | Fandom (2024)

As we all know, the whole weasley family are my favorites with four of them being in my top ten favorite characters. But what about Molly? Today I will be voicing my opinions of her.

Molly Weasley wasn't a bad mom, but she wasn't a great one either. She wasn't abusive, but she definitely had times where she could've been better.

Let's start with Bill.

Bill wanted to grow his hair long. Molly didn't like his hair long because it wasn't proper. She cut it off right before his wedding! She wanted everything to be prim and proper, and it wasn't even her wedding! Talk about overbearing? She called him ugly after he was attacked by Greyback. Of course she was just trying to get rid of Fleur, THE ONE PERSON WHO MADE HER SON HAPPY?? Now of course there were good moments too. When Bill got Headboy, she was very proud of him, AS SHE SHOULD BE. When he got prefect she was proud of him AS SHE SHOULD BE. They went to visit him in Egypt often. Overall with Bill, she gets a 5/10.

Charlie. With Charlie, she was a bit better. She had high expectations of Charlie. She was very proud of his grades, when he was headboy, a prefect, and quidditch captain. She didn't approve of his job, even though it was his dream. She thought there were better things to be doing. She compared him to Bill often. When he mentioned that he wanted to grow his hair long like Bill, she flipped her s***. She did visit him often though. She didn't approve of his choice to not get married. Overall with Charlie she gets a 6/10 because she wasn't as mean to Charlie as she was to Bill.

Percy. With Percy, Molly was a total a**. She compared Percy to Charlie and Bill all the time. When Percy got prefect he was so proud, AS HE SHOULD BE BC THATS A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT, but she turned it into an opportunity to compare Fred and George to him, saying that if Fred and George didn't get their marks up, they wouldn't make Prefect. how do you think that made Percy feel, when his brothers legit felt betrayed by him even though it was their mother splitting them apart? I mean, Percy left the family, but with the way she treated him, he had every right to. With Percy, Molly gets a 1/10.

Fred and George. I know they are two people but they had the same experience with Molly. With the twins, Molly constantly berated them. Everything they did was compared to their brothers before them, and that made him feel awful. She always combined everything they did. SHE COULDNT TELL HER CHILDREN APART. like I get it, they're identical, but you popped them out your v***** SO SURELY YOU CAN TELL THEM APART? I mean the books explain about how you could tell them apart based on their freckles I believe? Harry could tell them apart! Also Molly raised her sons to hate their brothers because everything they did was compared to the successes of their older brothers. She didn't approve of their dreams either, and put them down so much that they were basically afraid of her! I mean, don't you notice how when they are gambling with Ludo, Arthur says that they better not tell their mother? Isn't there a reason? When a parent hides something from their spouse, there's usually a very good reason!! Sure she cried when Fred died, but like, she gave birth to him. Of course she would cry. She loved her kid. Like i get it was a war and you couldn't cry for long but she pretty much cried for a moment and then moved on? For Fred, Molly gets a -7/10. For George she gets a -5/10.

Ron. For Ron, Molly was better with him than she was with the twins or with Percy. She learned from her mistakes a little bit, and compared him with his brothers, putting him higher than his brothers were. This ties into times where he would act egotistical. When he gets Prefect she is so proud of him AS SHE SHOULD BE, but she also completely puts Fred and George down. She sends hate mail to Hermione, who Ron is IN LOVE with, and basically treats Harry more like her son than her own son. She made his weasley sweater in gryffindor colors, because he was a gryffindor, but she knew he hated maroon and hated it even more when he wore it. She could've made it any other shade of red? For Ron, Molly gets a 6/10.

Ginny. Gosh I could go on for hours. Molly was very defensive about her only daughter. She didn't say anything negative when Ginny didn't make Prefect, but that's because there was a WAR so she literally didn't think about it? She was proud of Ginny. She was good to Ginny. We never see her disapproving of Ginny in any way. favorite child? Definitely. I love Ginny so much and Molly did a great job parenting her, so for Ginny, Molly reluctantly gets an 8/10.

Overall I give Molly a 5.7/10 as a mother. She wasn't bad but she wasn't good either. She did have plenty of redeeming moments, most notable one being "not my daughter you b****" but she also had bad moments, i think the worst one is when she cut Bills hair before his wedding because like it was his wedding. Arthur was the better Weasley parent. Comment if you want me to explain why.
