Karen Ivery, 32, went “haywire” and demanded Target in Ohio give her her items for free because she deserves reparations.

It all started when she couldn’t pay for the merchandise worth $1,050:

Reading resident Karen Ivery, 37, became “belligerent” and “totally unruly” when she said she was not going to have enough money to pay for the merchandise that had been scanned, totaling $1,051, the Target cashier told police, according to an affidavit.

“I decided to take a stand,” Ivery later told police, as shown in bodycam footage. “This is my Rosa Parks moment.”

The cashier flagged a supervisor, who told police Ivery asked that Target give her reparations “and then went on a spiel about how I’ve lived a privileged life and she’s owed this,” an officer wrote in court documents.

The supervisor said Ivery pushed her into the soda machines at the cafe counter. “I put my hands on her shoulders, attempting to keep some space between us, but her body was physically touching mine,” she told police.

The affidavit states that Ivery then went “haywire” and “started screaming,” the supervisor said.

Bodycam footage shows Ivery telling officers she was trying to have a “larger conversation” about “how money works.”

“We all know money has not treated people equally,” she said, per the bodycam footage. Later, she added: “The system is rigged against people doing the right thing.”

The manager couldn’t get Ivery to calm down. He went back to the security office, but Ivery followed him.

He tried to shut and lock the door, but Ivery forced her way through the door. The manager punched Ivery out of “fear for my safety.”

In December, Ivery “was convicted on the disorderly conduct count and sentenced to one day in jail and fined $110.”

The security footage showed her being the “aggressor.” Officials charged her “with meaning and disorderly conduct.”

I have a classmate that worked as a security supervisor at the Dallas Ft Worth airport. He told me they have at least 25 people a year that completely lose it in their airport
(before Covid). They just start screaming and eventually dissolve into tears. I can’t help but wonder if that isn’t what happened here.

Senate operations, crafting legislation, govt oversight, and representing his state are all beyond him, but those aren’t the job in these days of party realpolitick.

“The system is rigged against people doing the right thing”

I guess she includes herself among those. How ironic. I have to agree with the sentiment though. I’ve been working since I was a kid delivering newspapers. Never been on unemployment and they keep taking more. Worked all through covid dodging speed traps. I watch police ticketing people in the HOV lane slowing down the commute almost daily while crime runs rampant and they keep taking more of my money. Well, reparations will be the last straw for me.

I feel sorry for this woman and cannot join in in making fun of her. Being true to my principles, I do not think her capable of deep thought. She is only acting as she is encouraged to do, by her lights, by the ruling elites. If we really cared for these people we would use our superior abilities to take up the burden of caring for them in a humane fashion that recognizes their limitations. Society’s current approach is a vainglorious charade.

She chose what she saw as the easy way out and developed a patter to support her choice.

Deep thought or not, not taking someone else’s stuff is taught before we learn to walk. If you are suggesting that they be treated as children or undisciplined farm animals perhaps there is merit in that, but I don’t see it likely to happen.

“Money” hasn’t the ability to “treat” people good or bad.

This is how money works:
Get a job and show up to work
Get your pay
Shop for things you need to live
Pay your d*** bill
Go home

So sad that weak-minded, low IQ people believe in lies.

After I retired as an airline pilot I became a home inspector. Some of my favorite and best clients were Nigerians who had come here the right way and had good jobs and through hard work, had made enough money to buy property. They all felt as if they were in Heaven because they loved America so much for the opportunities they found. What this has taught me is that it isn’t the color of skin that causes trouble but what’s in their heads. After obama left office, the entire black race in this country felt like victims and that they were all owed something. This is the problem that we are now facing as well as the label of “White man’s” laws that are scoffed at and openly broken knowing that law enforcement will turn the other way. Having worked with black men that had honor and whose word was golden, to now see many blacks in this country who have neither is a tragedy that must be addressed openly with tough words.

My “Rosa Parks” moment is, “Get out of my face!”

I am beyond tired of people blaming slavery, the environment, “our racist, capitalist system” and just about anything you can name, besides themselves, for their lack of education, ideas, or jobs.

We were dirt poor. In 1958, my parents made less than $10,000, in total. Things were beyond tight. And yet, I went to college, got a degree in 3 years while working, and went on to have a nice career, thank you very much.

How did those things happen. As GWBush once said, “Read my lips — HARD WORK!” College was not the greatest time of my life. It was hard, brutal work. Come to think of it, that’s what college should be.

If you go to college for 5-6 years, you’re doing something wrong. If you end up saying it was the greatest time of your life, you didn’t do it right. If you didn’t learn something, and how to stand on your own two feet, you did it wrong.
