Table of Contents
Oakley Sliver
The Oakley Sliver, the standard in the Sliver sunglasses family, have a sleek, modern, yet comfortable frame design with high-quality, protective lenses. This pair is ideal for casual wear or active lifestyles.
Frame and Design
The Oakley Sliver frame is not only sleek and timeless to accommodate a range of tastes and face shapes, but it’s made with O-Matter material, making them nearly weightless. The frames fit snugly, and the lightweight composition doesn’t apply pressure to your nose or the backs of your ears like many competitors do.
The Oakley Sliver sunglasses’ stems, designed with comfort in mind, fluidly bend around the ears for relief. The same goes for the glasses’ bridge. The glasses fit on your nose’s bridge; the shape, sculpted for an organic design, doesn’t poke or put pressure on your nose.
Besides practicality, the Oakley Sliver Sunglasses are sleek and modern for an appearance compatible with many face shapes and either gender. The design’s durability makes them the ideal sunglasses to wear for all needs, whether that’s running a marathon or driving to the store.
Lens
The Oakley Sliver lenses are made of impact resistant Plutonite and are available Polarized, Prizm and Prizm Polarized options. We’ve already covered why we love Oakley Prizm lenses in our complete guide here, so be sure to give it a read. Oakley Sliver replacement lenses are available from both Oakley and aftermarket retailers. Be sure to check out our section below on how to replace your Sliver lenses.
Oakley Sliver F
For the frequent traveller, look no further than the Oakley Sliver F for your next pair of sunglasses. Their premium quality lenses protect your eyes from harsh light and the unique double-folding arms make them incredibly easy to pack.
Frame and Design
The Oakley Sliver F’s matte olive ink frame serves as a nice contrast to the vibrant fire iridium lens. The frame is lightweight and folds up into a compact size for you to store easily in your pocket. Much like the other Oakley Sliver sunglasses, the frame is made with Nano-Matter, an offshoot of O Matter that results in a 30% lighter frame with even more flexibility than the previous pairs.
The F in Oakley Sliver F stands for foldable. Why? Because these sunglasses are Oakley’s first folding frames around half-way on your temples. This capability makes them perfect for traveling because you can pack them up compactly to take with you when you fly, drive, run, walk or bike!
Lens
Similar to its namesake the company made the Oakley Sliver F’s lenses in a variety of colors and options. Our favorites are the Fire Iridium Polarized which gives off a golden bronze hue. While the lenses appear vibrant in color, the lenses give off neutral contrast so your surroundings won’t appear as saturated. In doing so, your vision will remain bright and colorful, whereas some sunglasses cloud your vision with darkness to protect your eyes.
Unfortunately Sliver F Prizm lenses were never produced, and the frame has since been discontinued. We would of loved to have seen a Sliver F with Prizm Ruby lenses. Though this doesn’t mean you’re out of luck in finding one. Scroll down to find where you can still find and buy Sliver sunglasses for sale!
Oakley Sliver Edge
The name Sliver Edge comes from the rimless bottom on the glass’ lenses for this variation. This stylish design makes these sunglasses ideal for casual wear and for individuals looking for sunglasses with a breathable design without sacrificing protection.
Frame and Design
The Oakley Sliver Edge sunglasses are suitable for medium to large face shapes. If you have a smaller face, you may still wear the sunglasses well, but the frame’s size may overwhelm you.
Besides the frame size, Oakley manufactured the glasses with lightweight O-Matter for comfort and durability. The frame is also available in a unique wood grain for a natural, earthy look.
Much like the other Sliver sunglasses editions, the Sliver Edge sunglasses are lightweight and comfortable. However, these sunglasses are partially rimless along the bottom of the lenses. This freedom allows the lens to curve to cover your peripheral vision for an aerodynamic design and maximum coverage.
Lens
Depending on your eyes, sensitivity to light, or your intended use for the sunglasses, you can choose a lens style to accommodate. In contrast to the F above, the Sliver Edge is produced only with Prizm lenses including Black Iridium, Shallow Water Polarized and Sapphire Iridium.
Overall the Sliver Edge’s half rimmed design allow for more airflow to reach your face and cheeks around the lenses and creates a great frame of view.
Oakley Sliver Stealth
The Sliver Stealth’s narrow frame and lens variety make these sunglasses ideal for outdoor sporting activities such as deep-sea fishing or hiking. They can withstand harsh environment conditions and provide a vibrant outlook.
Frame and Design
Like it’s siblings in the family, the Oakley Sliver Stealth is made of lightweight O matter frame material and featured a full rimmed design. This pair’s frame is much more narrow than the other Sliver sunglasses meaning it’ll fit better for smaller faces.
These sunglasses are perfect for outdoor activities. The design is aerodynamic, sleek and durable to withstand harsh environments and light, making them ideal for long outdoor outings, whether that’s a deep-sea fishing trip or a job around the city.
Lens
The Oakley Sliver Stealth doubles down as an outdoor frame with a variety of Prizm and Prizm Polarized lenses available including Prizm Sapphire and Deep Water Polarized.
As with the other frames listed here, the lenses are made of the brand’s proprietary impact resistant Plutonite material.
Oakley Sliver XL
If you have a wider or round face shape, you’ll want to check out the Oakley Sliver XL sunglasses since Oakley designed them specifically for larger heads. With a similar design to the original model, the XL does exactly what it sounds like – goes “Extra Large”. This is a great frame for large face sizes.
Frame and Design
To accommodate the larger lenses, the Oakley Sliver XL has an extended frame. This pair is quite similar to the original Sliver, just in an extended size. The frame is available in a variety of colors making it perfect for casual wear.
Of course, designed with comfort in mind, the Oakley Sliver XL sunglasses fits snugly on the bridge of your nose, and the arms rest gently on top of your ears. These glasses also have an extended peripheral view to encompass your range of vision thanks to the larger frame.
Their lightweight design, paired with the casual frame style, makes these glasses ideal for daily wear or active outings.
Lens
The Oakley Sliver XL sunglasses’ lenses encompass the same durability and high-quality material as the others in the collection. However the XL comes with even better lens options including a ton of Polarized, Prizm and Prizm Polarized options. Some of our favorites include Torch Iridium and Prizm Tungsten.
