Leatherworking offers many different gear options throughout all Phases ofTBC Classic. In addition to gear, it is a great raiding profession for the variousparty-wide drum buffs it can offer. In this guide, we will show you all thedifferent gear available to Leatherworkers, how to train the profession, unlock its different specializations, and many other things.

1.

Introduction

Leatherworking is most commonly used by both Leather and Mail wearers as thegear crafted through it is very strong, especially in the early gearing process. In addition to the gear that players can make, it is commonly used a raidingprofession for the multiple different Drums available. These Drums can be quitestrong when multiple Leatherworkers are in the same party and use their Drums ina specified order.

Leatherworking is best combined with Skinning, as this willallow you to farm many of the needed materials yourself. It is highly recommendedto have Skinning when increasing your Leatherworking skill level, even if it ison an alt character. It takes a rather large quantity of leather to finish thisprofession off, so being able to farm some of it can greatly help with reducingyour gold spent on the auction house.

You may also find that Leatherworking can be used to complement yourgoldmaking in TBC Classic. For more information on this among other methodsinvolving alternative professions, please see our separate guide on the topic:

Leatherworking Benefits

In TBC Classic, Leatherworking offers many benefits throughout the entireexpansion. With almost every single Phase, Leatherworking gains additionaluses and benefits to the owner. Below we will go through each Phase of TBC Classicand see what items are available to players.

7.1.

Phase 1

As shown above in the LeatherworkingSpecializations section, there are many items available to craft forLeatherworkers depending on which specialization you decide to select. Inaddition to the gear, there are other benefits to having Leatherworking:

Hate them or love them, Leatherworking's Drums offer various, unique party-widebuffs to all group members within 8 yards. The shorter range and cast timeon these drums do not reduce the effectiveness of them as long as your group canremain somewhat close together. The more Leatherworkers in the group the better,as that will allow you to use the Drums in succession and keep the buff up aslong as possible.

7.2.

Phase 2

Phase 2 offers new patterns for epic boots which can be found in eitherThe Eye or Serpentshrine Cavern.

7.3.

Phase 3

Phase 3 offers new patterns for epic shoulders which can be found in eitherThe Battle for Mount Hyjal or Black Temple.

7.4.

Phase 4

Phase 4 offers new and improved Drums. These are a new item that is beingadded to TBC Classic that were not in the original version of the game. Thesenew Drums are almost identical to the Drums available from Phase 1, but theseDrums have a 40-yard range and are instant-cast.

8.

New Phase 5 Patterns

In Phase 5, multiple new patterns for Leatherworking can be found in the newraid Sunwell Plateau on the Isle of Quel'Danas, droppingfrom any of the trash mobs.

8.1.

Phase 5 Leatherworking Chest Patterns

These chest patterns are Bind on Use, allowing them to be freely tradedbetween anyone. The chests themselves however are Bind on Pickup when crafted, preventing them from being traded.

8.2.

Phase 5 Leatherworking Glove Patterns

These glove patterns are Bind on Pickup, requiring them to be looted by theLeatherworker directly. The gloves themselves however are Bind on Equip whencrafted, allowing them to be traded freely.
